What material of steel is best for hydraulic oil pipes?

Mar 13, 2026

For hydraulic hoses, steel is an ideal material. As mentioned earlier, steel possesses high strength, high rigidity, good pressure resistance, and oil resistance. Among steel pipes, seamless steel pipes are a superior choice. Manufactured through hot rolling or cold drawing processes, seamless steel pipes boast high dimensional accuracy and surface finish. This allows them to exhibit better performance when subjected to high pressure and high-speed fluids.

Alternatively, alloy steel pipes are also a good option. Alloy steel pipes enhance strength and heat resistance by adding certain alloying elements (such as chromium and molybdenum). These pipes are suitable for high-temperature and high-pressure operating environments, ensuring stable operation of hydraulic systems.

In summary, the selection of hydraulic hose material should be based on a comprehensive consideration of the specific operating environment, system requirements, and cost budget. Copper pipes, steel pipes, rubber hoses, nylon pipes, and plastic pipes are all viable material types. For iron pipes, carbon steel is an excellent choice; while for steel pipes, seamless steel pipes and alloy steel pipes offer superior performance.
