Use Air or Oil – Highly Flexible Operation
Our pneumatic tie rod cylinders can operate using either compressed air or low-pressure hydraulic oil. They combine the smooth motion of hydraulic systems with the cost efficiency of pneumatic systems, offering flexible operating options.
For air operation, the rated pressure range is 0.6 to 1.6 MPa. For oil operation, the pressure can reach up to 10 MPa. Bore sizes range from 32 to 200 mm, and the maximum stroke is 2000 mm.
This pneumatic tie rod cylinder uses a four-rod structure to securely hold the assembly together. The seals are low-friction and self-lubricating. Even under oil-free air conditions, service life remains long. The piston rod surface is hard chrome plated, providing strong resistance to rust and corrosion.
No Creep at Low Speed – Position Holding in Case of Air Loss
Mounting dimensions comply with ISO 6431, allowing direct interchange with standard cylinders. Compared with conventional pneumatic cylinders, this pneumatic tie rod cylinder performs better at low speeds. At speeds below 10 mm/s, no stick-slip or creeping occurs.
Another key advantage is position retention in the event of sudden air pressure loss. The cylinder can maintain its position through internal locking behavior, making it highly suitable for safety-critical applications.
It is widely used in automated assembly line lifting, positioning, and clamping systems. It is also suitable for clean-room environments because compressed air operation does not produce oil mist.
Optional Magnetic Switch – 12-Month Warranty
A built-in magnetic ring can be added as an option. When used with an external magnetic switch, precise position sensing is possible. We can also provide samples for on-machine testing.
